Core Competency (what does everyone need to know?)
Targeted Competencies
(What will they be doing to show you that they know it?)
Assessment/Evidence
(all work must meet minimum standards before student proceeds to next assignment)
(what does it look like when they know it?)
1-Demonstrate safe and appropriate use of metal working hand and power tools.
1a- Develop a rudimentary knowledge of manufacturing and the world of work
- Operate and maintain metal working equipment.
- Pass a safety test for each machine.
- Find and use or fabricate necessary tooling, Jigs and Fixtures.
- Be able to fabricate required Wheel Puller project from a blue print accurate to within .005”
- Complete work sheets from Manufacturing Technology Text in class and take home work.
- Able to select correct taps, dies, tap drills, and use edge find tools with no coaching.
- Observation using lathes, milling machines, bench grinders
- 100% on Safety tests.
- Tooling is properly set up. Work is safely and ridgley held.
- Fabricated item to meet blue print tolerances using proper measuring equipment.
- Work sheets graded as 20% of final grade.
2- Able to show an understanding of the interview process and work ethic that will be necessary in their career.
- Draft letters of application and complete job applications with references and prior job history.
- Able to dress appropriately according to the job requirements.
- Have a working knowledge of the “workplace skills” created by the Monadnock Regional School district to Career project.
- Students will have a resume on electronic storage ready for update.
- Students will go through a mock interview.
- Classroom discussion of work place skills to include punctuality and attendance.
3-Create projects using the Hurco, and Prototrac CNC equipment in shop.
- Safely setup and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture square, circular, and irregular objects using the menu driven machines.
- Students will be able to set up and operate manual milling and turning machines using dials provided with the machine.
- Project pieces will be inspected to tolerances given in the print used to set up program.
- Project tolerances will be measured and inspected using proper gauging equipment.
4-Be able to analyze and plan a machining strategy to manufacture or repair projects.
- Select and use tooling, fixturing and gauging equipment appropriate for the project at hand including manual and CNC equipment.
- Skills will show a progression from those learned in Machine Tool Processes.
- Project will show proper order of fabrication steps and will comply to tolerances given in the print.
- “Fit and Finish” will reflect improved skills.
