Dr. George S. Emerson School

Hi everyone!  I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.  For those of you who do not know me, my name is Lori Stevens and I am the Principal of Emerson Elementary. I am starting my 17th year at Emerson!  I began my journey as a yearlong intern in 2nd grade as I was working towards my Master’s degree in Curriculum Design and Instruction.  After that, I was hired to teach first grade! My journey continued as I moved from first grade to teaching third/fourth grade and then to 5th/6th grade, where I stayed for five years. After my five years in 5th/6th, I moved down to second grade and then to interventionist/lead teacher, where I realized I really enjoyed the leadership position and decided to return to school to get my Principal Certification.  After completing my Master’s in Educational Leadership, I was lucky to become the Assistant Principal of Troy and Emerson for a year and a half before becoming the Principal of Emerson. I believe that my experience teaching grades 1st through 6th is very beneficial in my role as principal. On a personal note, I live with my husband, 11-year-old daughter, and our dog, Otis.  I love Emerson Elementary and I look forward to getting to know all of you this year.
