Authentic Assessment: Unlike high-stakes or formal assessments, authentic assessments are informal and are often developed by both teachers and students. They can develop over a period of time and can be in many different forms. Checklists, observations, interviews, writing tasks, and portfolios can all be used for authentic assessments. You can use authentic assessments to make qualitative judgements about a student's strengths or instructional needs and then plan necessary instruction.
