K. Dassau reported to the Board on the teacher absenteeism on Friday.

K. Dassau read a statement that he discussed with L. Sutton, J. Smith and C. Kahn.

They discussed the middle/high teacher absentee issue. The MDEA does not endorse such behavior. The two principals have met with their respective teachers and reviewed each sick leave request.  K. Dassau recommended that in the best interest of the students and the teachers that the Board’s Negotiating Team go back to the table with the Union as soon as possible. E. Jacod supported the superintendent’s recommendation. Moving on is a good will card. MOTION: D. Lyman MOVED to return to public session. SECOND: C. Dreyfuss. DISCUSSION: J. Carnie commented that the Board has only discussed half of the issues. He said that a series of problems have occurred. He said that a teacher singled out a student due to what was said by the student or parent.  G. White commented that the compliant should not come from a School Board Member. J. Carnie commented that this was part of the ramifications of the vote. G. White commented that the Superintendent should be contacted. K. Dassau commented that individual complaints from parents are being responded to by the principals. VOTE: 13.274/0/0/1.726. Motion passes.

Respectfully submitted,
