Special Board Meeting Minutes

May 6, 2006

Monadnock Regional Middle School/High School, Swanzey, NH

Present: James Carnie, Kenneth Colby, Colline Dreyfuss, Bill Felton, Jeff Friedman, Jonathan Kenyon, Richard Thackston, Phyllis Peterson, Gene White.Absent: Tim Aho, Karen Cota, Jason Hill, Charles Johnson, Bruce McCulley, and Bruce Tatro.��

Also present: K. Dassau, Superintendent of Schools and D. Hodgdon, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction.

 

C. Dreyfuss called the meeting to order at 10:20 a.m. and posed the question about what question the board was trying to respond to at the special meeting.The consensus was that the purpose of the meeting was to agree on a per pupil cost that could be applied consistently to the district and each individual school.D. Bauries from the audience supported this definition of the purpose.

 

C. Dreyfuss asked why the state formula, which had been an established and accepted method of determining per pupil cost, couldn�t be used.J. Carnie responded to the question by explaining the research he had done and the contact he had made to the state.MOTION: J. Carnie then MOVED, for the purposes of brevity and accuracy, and in order to assure uniformity both within the District and, as already established within the State of New Hampshire, that the Monadnock Regional School District adopt the State formula for determining per pupil cost as enumerated on page 1 of the January 19, 2006 handout from the New Hampshire State Department of education, Division of Program Support, Bureau of Information Services, for determining per pupil cost for each and every school (and/or separate school program) within the Monadnock Regional School District. SECOND:D. Thackston.VOTE:9.854/0/0/5.146.Motion passes.

 

J. Carnie asked about updating the formula for the school board�s weighted vote.D. Thackston asked about the publishing of the compensation package and background of the new business manager.
